Former Thunderbird Nick Stroman Returns to the Field with the Salt Lake Senate

by Press

Nick Stroman, former Southern Utah University & Orange Coast College football player, recently made his return to the field when he joined the Salt Lake Senate. Stroman thought his days of competitive football were over. That is until last year when a conversation with friends inspired him to try out for the Salt Lake Senate Football team.

When asked what inspired him to try out, he said “I never thought I'd play football at a highly competitive level again, so I hung up the cleats. Late last year, I was having a conversation with a few friends and it was mentioned that they wished they could've seen me play ball. Miraculously that very weekend my social media accounts were bombarded with The Senate football team marketing. I met with GM Chris and Coach EZ for lunch and they shared their vision, I knew - It's gonna LIT!”

How has your experience been so far on the team?

- My expectations of and my experience with the program have been exceeded immensely! Coach EZ and Chris are running a tight ship. It's a legit program they've put together and it's only getting better. Even with a structured program they're still making it fun and enjoyable."

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a football player?

- "My toughest challenge as a football player came while I was attending Southern Utah University. I was given an opportunity to play for a Division 1 program under the leadership of Coach Ed Lamb. I made a very poor decision coupled with immaturity that led to me losing my chances to progress to the next level - I was my own worst enemy."

How have the opportunities provided by the Salt Lake Senate helped you progress as an athlete?

- "The Senate has given me an opportunity to play the game I fell in love with again. I've personally seen what The Senate staff and ownership has put into their team to make this a high quality program with the goal to get players and coaches to the next level. My coaches and mentors with The Senate understand I want to go to the next Level and are providing me with a platform to work towards that goal."

What advice would you give to other aspiring football players who may be considering joining a team like the Senate?

- "Whether you're looking to gain some real grown man experience prior to college or you're a post collegiate player needing film to enter the XFL/ USFL, don't sleep on The Senate, you're only doing a disservice to yourself."

Nick Stroman’s story is an inspiring one that goes beyond just playing football—it serves as motivation for anyone aspiring towards greatness no matter how long ago you’ve hung up your cleats or how far away you are from achieving your goals. Keep an eye on Nick this season as he takes on opponents with The Salt Lake Senate Football Team.
