The Salt Lake Senate Football team held its first Organized Team Activity (OTA) of the 2023 season on the weekend of March 18th. With General Manager Chris Heliin and Head Coach Ethan EZ Wright at the helm, the team had high expectations for their first practice. After a successful session, both Heliin and Wright shared their comments on the day’s activities. 

General Manager Chris Heliin was pleased with the pace of practice and organization of each position group’s drills. He said, “The players have come in with a great attitude and have been very organized in their approach to practice. We are off to a strong start this season.” 

Head Coach Ethan "EZ" Wright was also happy with how his players competed but noted that offensively they will need more time to install an extensive playbook and gel as a unit. He said, "First practice went great. It was good to see the players and coaches getting after it today. We have a very talented team and I'm excited to show this league what we are bringing to the table this year."

Additionally, many veteran players took part in OTAs including Defensive Back Landon Bates who said, "I'm excited about this upcoming season. We have a great group here and everyone is working hard to make sure we are ready for our first game in May." 

 All-in-all it seems like Salt Lake Senate Football has gotten off to an excellent start this season. With hard work from both veterans and newcomers alike, they should be ready to compete when the regular season kicks off May 21st. 

The excitement surrounding this season is palpable as General Manager Chris Heliin and Head Coach Ethan EZ Wright look forward to putting together a championship-caliber squad for 2023.
