Senate Finds The Antidote, Inject Venom with 39 Points

by PRESS

The Senate is back and fans can't get enough of the action. This weekend, the Salt Lake Senate played against the Arizona Valley Venom in their season opener and they certainly did not disappoint. The Senate came out guns blazing, finding the antidote to the Valley Venom's defense by injecting 39 points against them. In this post, we'll look at the highlights of the game and what this win means for the Salt Lake Senate going forward.

The Salt Lake Senate started out slow, with their first two offensive drives resulting in three and outs. However, Quarterback Marcel Peters was able to find Wide Receiver D'andre Randolph in the corner of the endzone for their first touchdown of the game in the first quarter. The Senate's offense picked up steam and on their very next possession, Running Back Trey Davenport made an 8-yard sweep into the endzone. The team's performance was boosted by their solid defense, who allowed zero scores and even scored a safety, a punt recovery for a touchdown, and a pick-six.

With 11:40 remaining in the second quarter, Senate founder Jared Van Yperen executed a fullback dive from the 3-yard line to put the Senate up by 27 points. The offensive coordinator was satisfied with the team's performance and commented that it was great to finally put their scheme into work against a different opponent, but it needs to be sharpened up before facing bigger opponents.

Head Coach Ethan "EZ" Wright, former Skyridge assistant coach, expressed his satisfaction with the team's win but also acknowledged the need to be disciplined across the entire team to further improve performance. He stated that penalties were an area of concern that the team needs to work on. The team may need to hold back on the Vintage Muscle supplements before taking the field!

The Salt Lake Senate's first game back was a huge win against a runner-up from the Cactus League. Their performance on both defense and offense was impressive with the running game being utilized. If the Salt Lake Senate can continue this level of performance, they could be contenders for the championship. The team now travels to Phoenix to face off against the Arizona Roadrunners on June 3rd, a team that beat them three times in the 2022 season. The fans are excited to see what the Senate can do and can't wait for their next game.

The Salt Lake Senate would like to thank the Arizona Valley Venom for taking this game on such a short notice, after the Socal Coyotes forfeited their first game of the season, refusing to travel to Salt Lake City.
