Senate Football Team is pumped to welcome back Coach Eddie Ruiz as the Senate's new Defensive Coordinator

Coach Eddie Ruiz was born in Mexico and raised in Colorado. His love for football began when he was 12 years old playing for Berry Crick Middle School. He first began his career of dominance as a split end and defensive end in high school. During his time at Eagle Valley High School he was a decorated three year varsity letterman and in 2002 was named as the player to watch in the state of Colorado. He graduated from Eagle Valley High school in 2003 where he would find himself as a walk on at the University of Miami at Coral Gables in Florida or colloquially known as the U.

He successfully walked on for the U and made the practice squad in 2003. He played wide receiver and split end. Shortly after his journey through the southern regions of the country the world led him to come back home in the west. He would transfer to Western State College in Colorado where he played one year in 2004. He played wide receiver and was a lockdown cornerback for the program. It would be four years until Coach Eddie Ruiz would find himself as a coach.

His coaching career began at Battle Mountain High school in 2008 as the programs Defensive Back and Linebackers coach. He was so successful at building one of the most fearsome defensive backs and linebacking cores that Vail Christian Academy came knocking on his doorstep with an opportunity to cultivate an incredible community. He coached at Vail Christian Academy for two years where he was the defensive coach and helped the rising talent in the area become better players. From there he coached the surrounding rising talents for the Vail recreation league from 2010 until 2012. After he spent sometime back in Colorado he moved to our very own Utah where he became the Head Coach for the Bingham High School girls varsity tackle football team in 2016. He was then scouted by the Salt Lake City Senate where he did a phenomenal job as the defensive line coach and was soon promoted to the interim defensive coordinator for our program.

Shortly after moving to the beehive state, he got married to the love of his life Jackie Ruiz in 2015 and one year later they bought their first home together as a newlyweds. Coach Eddie was invited to the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl as a Coach with the Utah All Stars. He was also featured in an Outside the Line segment on the work he is doing to promote gender equality in the sport of American Tackle football back in 2016. He was quoted saying "I am proud to say that as of today, my Bingham Girls Tackle football team is the ONLY team in the country that lets girls play football in high school". In his spare time you can find Coach Eddie spending quality time in the great outdoors, watching sports, working on his degree to become a teacher, or hospital patient advocacy. He is also an avid fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and a season ticket holder for the upcoming season in Las Vegas. He is also a supporter of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies and how could we forget the Salt Lake Senate.

We are filled with joy to welcome the Ruiz family back to the Senate family
