SENATE FOOTBALL TEAM HAS THE PLEASURE OF INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST LINEBACKER COACH. COACH GREGORY TOWNSEND JR. 

Coach Townsend is a California native with roots stemming down to Mississippi where he was born. He grew up with his father Greg Sr and his loving mother Mrs.Townsend alongside his two brothers Jonathan and Samuel. At a very young age in his household he grew a strong passion for the sport of football. In the 2nd grade he played for West Elementary Cobras where he was heavily influenced by the legendary 1980s University of Miami football team. This passion for football would lead him to have one of the most epic careers in Mission Bay High School history. 

When Coach Townsend was in high school, he became a decorated 3-year letterman in football as a running back and linebacker. His speed and size allowed him to obtain massive success on the track as a thrower and sprinter as well. By the time Coach Townsend finished his career from Mission Bay High School in 2005, he had a great opportunity to go to Howard University, University of San Diego, Arkansas State, Stanford and a breadth of well-respected Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). His desire to be closer to family in the city of New Orleans and recover from an unfortunate ACL Tear brought him to spend sometime in the Big Easy. He finally decided to call Louisiana home for a while and chose to continue his legacy at Southeastern Louisiana University. After spending quality time with family and a burning passion to get healthier he made the journey back home to California where he played linebacker at Ventura Junior College where he won the WSC and the So Cal Bowl. 

After graduating from Ventura Junior College he would go on to receive a scholarship to Central Methodist University to play running back. Shortly after his time in Missouri he would find himself in Texas to be closer with family and he was gifted the opportunity to play Arena Football for the East Texas Drillers. It was during this time period that he would start his career which eventually brought the Townsend family to our very own Utah. He spent 3 years perfecting his coaching abilities by being the head coach of our local Salt Lake City Bruins, a 9 man tackle football team based out in Northern Utah. During this time he grew as a coach and as a man of the people. He would also go on to find the love of his life Candice Townsend and they started a beautiful family. Their son Liam is a future NFL Hall of Famer and productive citizen of the world. Coach Townsend was quoted saying "they are my joy and everything that I work hard for". Coach Townsend can be described as a man of faith with a never ending love for Jesus Christ. You can find Coach Townsend in his spare time supporting the Miami Hurricanes, Green Bay Packers, learning new skills, and helping foster the men he leads in life, faith and football.

The Senate was established to provide the community with high quality minor league football, and help cultivate local talent giving local athletes the opportunity to participate in professional football. We are looking at partnering with local area businesses in our pursuit of excellence and commitment to the Utah community.
