Senate Football Welcomes Sofia Berrett as the Dance Team Director and Game Day Events Coordinator

Sofia Berrett is a Salt Lake City native and the newest member of the Senate Family.  Sofia started ‘official’ dance lessons at the age of 8, although she danced to her own kitchen pots-and-pans beat since she was able to walk. Sofia danced multiple styles both for fun and competitively throughout her childhood and teen years which propelled her to have a successful career as a dancer in high school.  She danced with her drill team, the Layton Lancelles, in high school where she fostered a host of tremendous leadership skills and competed with some of the best in the state of Utah. She earned the Dance Sterling Scholar Award for Layton High, as well as for the Northern Utah Region, and was a state finalist. Those leadership skills and accolades set her up for success when she joined the Weber State University Moving Company in college.  She graduated from Weber State University and then continued to make a profound impact in the communities in which she lived.

After college, Sofia began the first three years of her dance teaching career at Copper Hills High School.  She was a cheerleader in the RMFL for the Rocky Mountain Mudd Ducks and Utah Cobras during this time period.  She then lived and taught in Idaho for a year and Nevada the following year; she was a dancer for the NBA G-League for the Idaho Stampede and the Reno Bighorns for this period of time.  She then finished her last four years of dance teaching at Albion Middle School while taking advantage of opportunities to dance in Repertory Dance Theatre shows and for Express Dance Company and Peculiar Assortment of Bodies.

Sofia is now finishing her MEd in Professional School Counseling, interning as a high school counselor, dancing with Diamond Dance Company, acting as the Salt Lake Representative of the USUSA, and raising her six-month-old son with her husband.  She is ready for the next adventure with the Senate, and she is excited for the impact that the Senate brings to Utah.

WE welcome the BERRETT FAMILY to the senate family
